Hello, I'm Tori Langham.
I’m a graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.A.) program at Sacred Heart University and a clinical intern at The Wren Within, where I practice under the close supervision of Dr. Lindsay E. Vaughn.
As a therapist, I'm especially interested in working with -
- Depression and anxiety
- Identity exploration and existential concerns
- Grief and loss
- Religious trauma and deconstruction / spiritual exploration
- Artists, writers and musicians (all creatives!)
- Clients coping with chronic medical diagnoses or health-care transitions
About Me
I believe every person on this tiny planet carries a story inside them, and that simply telling that story to a compassionate, nonjudgmental, fully present other can do a whole lot. I’ve always been a creative person myself; I’ve been writing songs since childhood (my first one was an ode to my goldfish who had passed away). I was also the kid who wrote little books about my cats and proudly made my school librarian read them. Today, I am connected to music and writing communities, and I understand the things that go on in the background, the pressure, the meaning, and the tenderness of it. I believe that creatives are both blessed and burdened with seeing the world clearly. The same eye that notices beauty also can’t look away from the hardships. This idea is threaded throughout my work and the compassion I bring to it.
I came to counseling through my work as a board-certified music therapist, where I’ve served clients in hospice and palliative care, as well as adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In those spaces, I witnessed how creativity can lead to healing and connection. Those experiences taught me how powerful it is when art, relationship, and courage overlap.
In my therapeutic approach, I lean toward a humanistic and existential style - relational, authentic, and collaborative. I show up as a real person in the room with you, and my hope is that our work together feels grounded, honest, and deeply respectful toward your lived experience. As a music therapist, I’m also able to integrate music or creative processes into therapy, if that would support your movement toward your goals. This might look like making a playlist, talking about your favorite songs, engaging in gentle music-based reflection, or even creating something together. Above all, my hope is to walk alongside you as you navigate, make sense of, reclaim, or begin to tell your story. Your story matters, and it deserves to be held with care. I'd be happy to be the holder.
