Hello, I'm Jaden Mills.

I’m a graduate student in the Human Development Counseling (M.Ed.) program at Vanderbilt University and a clinical intern at The Wren Within, where I practice under the close supervision of Dr. Lindsay E. Vaughn.

As a therapist, I'm especially interested in working with -

Adolescents through older adults and all life transitions
Modern masculinity and emotional expression

Religious trauma and spiritual harm
Anxiety disorders, chronic stress, and emotional numbness
Identity development and existential meaning making
Learning differences and cognitive / neuro-diversity
Interpersonal relationship dynamics - insight and skill-building

About Me

I believe therapy is about making space for your full humanity, not fixing you. There’s room for every part of you here, including the messy, complicated, and in-progress. Whatever you’re feeling is alright.

My interest in counseling was shaped by growing up in a complex family system where emotions were intense but rarely processed. Like many people, I learned to understand my emotions intellectually long before I learned how to truly feel them. Through personal therapy and reflection, I’ve learned to recognize emotional disconnection (insight without feeling) along with strategies to connect more deeply with my own experience.  Together with my academic training, my lived experience informs how I work with clients who feel stuck, numb, and/or overwhelmed.

As a counselor-in-training, my approach is person-centered and holistic, grounded in the belief that healing begins when you feel seen, respected, and understood as a whole person. Our work together may feel slower and more intentional, creating space for emotions to be noticed rather than managed. Approaching difficult emotions with care and curiosity, rather than with urgency or avoidance, is central to how I support meaningful, lasting change.
